Book Design — The Metamorphosis Spring 2024
This is my execution of a book design in Typography II at Iowa State University. I focused on image manipulation as a strategy for creating a unique, vintage look for this design. Beetles began as real photographs and were edited, inspired by old prints and book illustrations. Project focused on typography, kerning, hierarchy, and consistency in editorial design.
Final deliverable was a full book design, including front and back cover, cover page design, and entirety of the book with custom drop cap letters.

This accessible document was made at my position at 4-H Youth Development. The design execution was entirely my responsibility and this document became a template for the branding of 4-H Healthy Living educational publications. The program began as an idea for a collaboration with the 5210 Program and 4-H's Healthy Living Program. I met with the supervisor of the program several times through the process to present changes and she ensured her brand and the learning opportunity was represented accurately. The final curriculum included technical descriptions of nutrition, step-by-step instructions, and interactive supplemental activities.

This accessible document was made at my position at 4-H Youth Development, with the focus of revising an older publication for visual appeal, usability, consistency, and conciseness which resulted in me starting from scratch. Organizing the content while ensuring readability was important especially when considering the wide age range of the audience and the amount of content needing to be fit in each page. The final deliverable was four separate publications, each 4-9 pages in length, focusing on exhibiting tips for each horticulture category for the Iowa State Fair.
