The Closet — Brand Manual

Fall 2024

I lead the comprehensive rebranding of The Closet, a student organization at ISU that provides free apparel—primarily business attire for professional endeavors—through donations and volunteer work. As the Design Officer, I developed a fresh identity from the ground up, incorporating feedback from our executive team, with the launch planned for January 2025. The rebrand will add a fresh, bold, and fun visual identity to the organization.

The final deliverables included a Brand Manual outlining typography, logo systems, color palette, patterns, graphic elements, and mockups. The branding draws inspiration from ThredUp's rebranding, which destigmatized secondhand clothing by emphasizing fun and fashion. I’ve added a vintage feel to resonate with our primary audience while designing adaptable logos (stacked and vertical) for diverse applications. The new branding transitions from The Closet's roots in its semesterly Pop-Up Shop to reflect its evolution into a permanent, impactful resource for students.

Logos

The Closet logo is important to be used in social media profile pictures, app icons, merchandising items like caps or tote bags, and situations where a compact format enhances visibility. The Pop-Up Shop logo wil be used to distinguish Pop-Up Shop events, sponsored by The Closet, due to the fact that the Pop-Up Shop is generally more known to students.

Blue shade is used to distinguish all The Closet marketing from the Pop-Up Shop, and the green shade is used to distinguish the Pop-Up Shop.

Color Palette

A fun, retro-inspired color palette was created with application in mind to separate and color-code different aspects of our brand. The bright colors add to the youthful spirit of the brand.

Typography

A modern but bold typography was chosen as the forefront of the brand in order to create a welcoming, engaging, and youthful environment when our audience engages with us.

Advertising

Advertising for events will be color coded based on affiliation with the Pop-Up Shop or not. Icons are used to organize information for conciseness and usability.

Iconography

Icons are used as a forefront of the brand to communicate a variety of messages to our audience, with the intention of communicating in a quick and easy to understand way.

T-Shirt Mockup

For distribution during events and for club members to wear during events

Tablecloth Mockup

For use during events, especially exposure events such as ISU's Club Fest
